About West Siang
History:
The history of the formation of this district as an independent administrative unit dates back to 1914, when the undivided Siang was part of an administrative division called the Central and Eastern Divisions of the North-East Frontier District. In 1919 it was renamed Sadiya Frontier Truck and in 1948 it was divided into the Abole Hill and Mishmi Hill districts. In 1954, the Abole Hill district became known as the Siang Frontier Division and was renamed the Siang District in 1965.
